About the artist.

Jefferson Clay is an award-winning singer/songwriter and Alt-Pop artist based in San Antonio, Texas. A pandemic success story, the songster released his first slew of singles in 2020, to acclaim from various indie music blogs and Spotify’s “Fresh Finds”, “Fresh Finds: Pop”, and “New Pop Picks” editorial playlists alike. Releases have garnered over 3 million streams across platforms, 100,000+ monthly listeners on Spotify, and a fast-growing fan base eagerly anticipating what’s to come. In his short artist career, Jefferson has made several national television appearances, including "American Idol" and "The Four", shared the stage with Austin staples like Alpha Rev and Nané, and the national stage with the likes of MisterWives, Dent May, and REO Speedwagon.

A strict religious education discouraged exposure to popular music, but did little to dissuade Jefferson from moving to Austin at age 18 and exploring everything the local scene had to offer. While attending the University of Texas, the budding artist became obsessed with song craft and production. Jefferson furiously wrote between classes, and found success entering local songwriting competitions and performing in every 6th street bar and Red River club he could, many of which he wasn’t legally allowed to enter.

Jefferson’s upcoming debut LP, ‘Elsewhere. Somehow. Somewhere.’, co-produced with Victor Gaspar (Matt Maeson, Houndmouth, BLK ODYSSY) is expected in 2024. “Genre, schmenre. It’s a little Pop, a little Indie, and a touch of Alt-Rock and R&B. ‘Shout-in-you-car’ melodies I want you to swear you’ve always known the lyrics to.” That’s how the 20-something year old describes the record. “It’s cliche, but I want these songs to transport you to another place in time, another world. That’s what all of my favorite artists have done for me. The best songs make us feel like astronauts, rocketing away from our own reality. That’s what I want my music to do for people.”
